Shoom ePaper is the most “publisher-friendly” e-edition solution available on the market.

ePaper automatically converts any publication into an online e-edition without the need for heavy PDF downloads, proprietary viewers, or slow plug-ins.

Shoom ePaper provides a turnkey solution with no need to change the newspaper’s workflow and it seamlessly integrates with existing technologies.

Shoom ePaper is “electronic editions made easy.”

With Shoom ePaper, your publication is presented
in a split screen for ease of naviigation.

Workflow

Shoom ePaper editions are designed to integrate with a newspaper’s current workflow without modifying it.

Shoom ePaper grabs the newspaper pages as they go to press (image setter) and then converts the pages into a web based (HTML/XML) format.

After the pages are made into the Web format, ePaper indexes them to provide a convenient search capability for recent e-editions.

The newspaper pages are then published on the Web in the user-friendly ePaper format.

This whole process only requires the newspaper to provide Shoom with the same files sent through their current workflow; turnaround is approximately three to four hours.  If the newspaper is already using Shoom’s eTearSheet service, no additional files may be needed.

Service

Because Shoom's ePaper electronic editions are offered as an affordable service rather than a huge upfront investment, publishers are able to create new streams of revenue right away.

Other advantages of the e-edition service include:

  • no hardware or software investments
  • no personnel investments
  • no upgrades or maintenance fees
  • 24 hours, 7 days a week support

Flexibility

The Tecnavia engine that powers Shoom's ePaper service is built on 20+ years in the newspaper industry. This experience assures that the engine was built with the flexibility that is critical in the industry today.

ePaper is not only flexible, but can also be customized to new needs.

For example:

1. The ePaper engine automatically generates the content for the "traditional" newspaper website for LaRegione. The publisher gains the traditional web presence and integrated e-edition, but does nothing more than provide PDFs of the print version.

2. ePaper provides an extra service to advertisers by extracting ads from the e-edition and presenting them in a free area on the website. Users are able to browse and search advertisements, print out coupons, email ads to friends, etc.
